ECOWAS Pays Courtesy Call On WSR-SL

The ECOWAS Long Term Observer Mission to Sierra Leone has paid a courtesy call on the national secretariat of Women’s Situation Room – Sierra Leone.

Their visit, according to the team leader Ebenezer Asiedu from Nigeria, was to find out how the WSR process is being replicated in Sierra Leone and to further acquaint themselves about crosscutting political issues posing threats towards the peaceful conduct of the polls.
The delegation noted there are growing concerns from members of the public about whether the election will consolidate or endanger the peace of the country. They pointed out that the use of hate speech and abuse of social media are very serious concerns. Also, they opined that if any nominated candidate is disqualified from contesting the election at this moment would have far-reaching consequences on the peace and tranquility of the State.
