In 2004 Advocacy Movement Network (AMNet) started operations in Sierra Leone. Since 2006 AMNet is a registered national non-governmental organization, working in three strategic areas: Women empowerment, child protection and youth development. AMNet has offices in three districts – Freetown, Bonthe and Kambia – but implements projects in all regions of Sierra Leone. AMNet’s mission is to deepen right holders’ understanding about human rights and social justice as a means for them to reflect on their own lives and use their skills to make informed choices as agents of social change. AMNet as an advocacy organization facilitates social change from the communities to the policy level through the review of laws and policies to protect vulnearble groups against abuses and violations of their rights.
